Sci-Fi Stories Harry Harrison 1.0

Deathworld is certainly an original book and holds its place in the Science Fiction Hall of Fame and I am sure you will not have read any books quite like this one. The story is kept interesting by a number of scene changes and plot twists. It has plenty of action, humor, and scary alien monsters, but also a compelling mystery and a realistic view of human nature.

Deathworld II. [originally serialized as THE ETHICAL ENGINEER] We have the same hero as in Deathworld now having to fight for his own life in a different setting and way. Harry Harrison puts it forth with lots of humor.

Planet of the Damned. An excellent adventure well written. Harrison's works should always be read in clusters, especially when flying through space!

The Misplaced Battleship. This is a wonderful story about 'Slippery' Jim DiGriz, later to be known as The Stainless Steel Rat. This tale of a roguish agent on the hunt for the thief of a battleship was both nostalgic, smart and humorously tragic and yes a good morsel of sci fi. This story gave rise to the satirical and humorous Stainless Steel Rat series beginning in 1961.

Toy Shop. It's a short story, doesn't introduce too many characters, and what makes it great is the VERY surprising ending.

The Repairman. This is an extraordinary story about a lighthouse, lizard like denizens, a lighthouse repairman, and a robot...it's fun and fantastical!!!

Arm of the Law. It is the humorous tale of a small off-world police station that is unexpectedly sent a robot officer as part of a trial program.

The K Factor. It is the story about a young man charged with using a field of study referred to as Sociatics to avert a war on another planet.

The Velvet Glove explores a not too distant future where robots--particularly specialist robots who don't know their place--have quite a rough time of it.

Navy Day. The plot is a simple and stupid concept building off the traditional rivalry between the Army and Navy service branches.
